According to an agreement between Shaker Heights and Cleveland Schools dated September 1912, Shaker Square is located in the city of Cleveland and belongs to the Shakers Heights City School District. Before the agreement, which was made by the Cleveland City Council in August 1912 and by the Ohio State Board of Education (CSE) in October 1912, it was under the city of Akron, Ohio, but since the end of World War II it has been under the city of Cleveland. According to a memorandum of understanding between Cincinnati City Schools and CSEA dated July 1913 and September 1913, Sh Baker Square is located under Shaking Heights, Cleveland and has always been in a city in Ohio.

This neighborhood is located in the southeast area of Shaker Heights and the Shakers Heights Country Club is one of the most popular golf courses in Cleveland, Ohio. Cleveland State University, the University of Akron and Ohio University are also here.
